So I borrowed a new studio monitors for my small home studio. I went to the record store this week saw a series of Yamaha MSP5 and just needed a few packs. The first thing I noticed is that these things are heavy! They feel they have the killer magnets, Nice solid wood, and a descent amp in them, so they feel really solid. They are self-powered, which is good because I would have no noise amplifiers in the rack and worry about ground loop problems and I know that match amplifiers to the speakers.

These speakers also have two large bass reflex ports on them. I have some music that stool and was blown away by the amount of air through these five small "shot.

They have a fairly flat frequency response. But they have approximately 50 Hz, while I have associated with a consumer grade RCA 8 "subwoofer. I pick the subset of the 60 Hz low to the sound. According to my numerator Phonic PAA3 they are fairly close to it vertically from top to down. I'm looking for a Peavey 2x15 equalization and enter any string as totally flat as a 18-wheeler on a squirrel.

The strength of these speakers is supplied by a power conditioner Furrman signal and fed my soundcard with XLR cables for signal Nice balanced. There is a certain noise levels from my plate, but this is not the fault of the monitors, I never noticed with my Klipsch 2.1 's (Promedia series).

Overall I am very impressed with the performance of these speakers, they have some very bright high end. I am very impressed with the accuracy of the media on these babies, I hear many of the speakers who all get the midrange evil (usually just very difficult almost to the point of over modulation). The soil is a bit lacking in themselves, but you can not expect a ton of 5 "drivers, then of course you want a separate sub to add to compensate for the lower end.

Generally, if you have a good set of speakers budget you can complete with them and be happy. If you need something a little more responsive to the soil and do not want to add a sub MSP7 give it a try.

It is worth the price tag $ 250/speaker. Let me know what you find in the comments.
